Over the past 20 years, AI technology has rapidly advanced in various fields, including aquaculture. Artificial intelligence is being tested and implemented in aquaculture to enhance feeding efficiency, estimate biomass, track growth, diagnose diseases early, and monitor and manage environmental conditions—especially in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS). These advancements in sensor and processing technologies enable many repetitive tasks in modern aquaculture to be performed with reduced labour and improved animal welfare. This review explores the potential applications of AI in aquaculture practices, aiming to increase production while minimizing disease and environmental losses. AI contributes to several areas, including disease management, feeding, water quality management, genetics and breeding, and the conservation of endangered species.
